How to start renting out your property

If you are facing a life change and want to keep your property by renting it out instead of selling, refinancing your mortgage could open up that possibility.

Properties with residential mortgages cannot be rented out unless you have a valid reason and receive explicit permission from your mortgage lender. For example, permission may be granted if your employer requires you to relocate temporarily for a work assignment.
If you decide to relocate or move away long-term, you will need to switch your mortgage from a residential (owner-occupied) mortgage to a rental mortgage.
Only a limited number of mortgage lenders in the Netherlands offer buy-to-let (rental) , such as ABN AMRO, Rabobank, NIBC, Domivest, RNHB, and Woonfonds. These banks work exclusively with clients through intermediary mortgage advisors - like the OHAO team.
